Yunona is a creative translator with an ability to deliver the result pertaining all the stylistic and expressive nuances of the original. She translates anything from poetry to scientific research texts with profound approach to terminology.

She has a Master's degree in Journalism, which is why she can be a creative writer, and writes her stories and articles effortlessly in English and Russian. Many of her translations were published in local magazines and newspapers. Because of the background in journalism, Yunona is a good editor and proofreader with an extensive knowledge of applied linguistics, terminology, synonyms, and vocabulary in different fields.

Yunona has worked as a newspaper reporter in her native Georgia before she continued her education in Moscow, studying Japanese at the Moscow State University, Department of Asian and African Studies.

She lived and worked in Japan translating and interpreting among English, Russian and Japanese languages. Among her most notable projects were translation of the entire Tokai University exhibition materials: 350 pages of technical and scientific research conducted at Tokai University - as well as several books from English into Russian about life of Japanese elementary and secondary school students.

After Yunona returned to Moscow in 1993, she worked at the Japanese Consulate School as an interpreter and school events coordinator, and later as a technical translator/interpreter for Department of Projects Development at Itochu International Moscow branch. Her tasks at Itochu included writing daily reports in Japanese and translating newspaper and magazine articles from Russian and English into Japanese.

Yunona had been living and working as a technical translator/interpreter in Bloomington, Indiana, USA with her husband and 2 children for 4 years.

After relocating to Vancouver, Canada, she taught Japanese Language and Japanese Interpretation course at Columbia College and Western Town College and Business Management at Prospect College of Business and Languages.

She has been working at Yumica Translation & Interpreting since the very beginning and has solid experience of translating and interpreting in fields of engineering, science, culture and art.

Among her biggest projects were translating of more than 400 pages of oil remediation project and more than 24 issues of Russian Kaleidoscope magazine in Vancouver. Yunona is fluent in Russian, English and Japanese but she also speaks her native tongue – Georgian. Her hobbies are arts, literature and cooking.
