Yunona is a creative translator with an ability to deliver the result pertaining all the stylistic and expressive nuances of the original. She translates anything from poetry to scientific research texts with profound approach to terminology and the meaning of the material.

She has a Master’s degree in Journalism, which is why she can be so fluent as a creative writer, and writes her stories and articles effortlessly in English or Russian. Many of her translations were published in local magazines and newspapers. Because of the background in journalism Yunona is a good editor and proofreader with extensive knowledge of applied linguistics, terminology, synonyms, and glossary in different fields.

Yunona worked as a newspaper reporter back in Georgia, then continued her education in Moscow studying Japanese at the Moscow State University, Department of Asian and African Studies.

She lived and worked in Japan translating and interpreting. One of her most notable projects was translating the entire Tokai University exhibition materials, 350 technical Japanese pages in total, mostly scientific and research documents as well as several books from English into Russian.

Yunona returned to Moscow and worked at the Japanese Consulate School as an interpreter and school events coordinator, and later technical translator/interpreter for Department of Projects Development at Itochu International Moscow branch. Her tasks at Itochu included writing daily reports in Japanese and translating newspaper and magazine articles.

In Vancouver, Canada, Yunona taught Japanese Language and Japanese Interpretation at Columbia College and Western Town College, and she is currently teaching Business Management at Prospect College of Business and Languages. She has been working at Yumica Translation & Interpreting since the very beginning and has solid experience of translating and interpreting in fields of engineering, science, culture and art.

Her biggest project was translating more than 400 pages of oil research paper and more than 24 issues of Russian Kaleidoscope magazine. Like Mitch Yunona is fluent in Russian, English and Japanese but she also speaks her native tongue – Georgian. Her hobbies are arts, literature and cooking.
